H&Y HD EVO-Series IRND8 Filter Kit 77mm
H&Y HD EVO-Series IRND8 Filter Kit 77mm | Control light for longer exposures
To let less light reach the camera and make a longer exposure possible, the H&Y HD EVO-Series IRND8 Filter Kit 77mm gives you an IRND8 filter in a 77mm size. That makes it relevant for photographers who want more control over shutter speed in bright conditions, such as when they want movement in a scene to appear blurred rather than frozen. The IRND8 designation indicates an eightfold reduction in light, equivalent to three stops. In practical terms, you can slow the shutter while keeping the same aperture and ISO, or use a wider aperture without changing your exposure. This is a focused tool for exposure control, rather than a filter for changing colour or adding a polarising effect. The 77mm measurement is the key size to match to the filter thread on the lens you plan to use. If you’re building a kit around that size, this set gives you an IRND8 option for deliberate shutter-speed choices.
Specialist Note
The 77mm diameter is the practical detail to start with: match it to your lens’s filter thread and you’ll know whether this kit suits that lens. The IRND8 rating means three stops less light, which gives you room to stretch a shutter speed without changing the aperture. For example, an exposure that would otherwise be around 1/30 sec could become about 1/4 sec at the same settings, useful for softening flowing water or giving moving clouds a little blur. I’d point this kit toward someone who wants that control in bright scenes and already knows they need a 77mm filter size. It’s a specific density, so it won’t offer the same flexibility as a variable-strength filter.
