H&Y RevoRing White Mist 1/2 Filter 58-77mm
H&Y RevoRing White Mist 1/2 Filter 58-77mm | A softer, misted look
Hard highlights and crisp digital rendering can make portraits or bright light sources feel harsher than you want. The H&Y RevoRing White Mist 1/2 Filter adds a misted diffusion look in front of the lens, softening the appearance of highlights and giving images a gentler feel. Its 1/2 strength is for photographers who want the effect to be noticeable, rather than barely there. It can suit portrait work, video and scenes where point lights or bright reflections are part of the frame. The 58-77mm range makes this filter relevant to lenses with filter sizes across that span. It’s a practical way to bring a softer rendering to a shot while keeping your lens in use. If you prefer clean, crisp contrast in every scene, though, this effect may not be the look you want.
Specialist Note
“Will this give portraits a softer look?” Yes, that’s the point of the White Mist 1/2 effect. I’d consider it for close portraits or a night scene with bright lights: fit it to a suitable lens and frame the highlights you want softened. The 1/2 strength gives the effect some presence, so I’d choose it when you want that look to be part of the image, not just a faint change. Its stated 58-77mm range covers a broad spread of lens filter sizes, which is handy if your lenses don’t all use the same size. It’s less suited to a crisp, high-contrast result.
