Hahnemühle DFA Torchon 285GSM 61cmx12m

Hahnemühle DFA Torchon 285GSM 61cmx12m | A clearly specified paper roll

Hahnemühle DFA Torchon 285GSM 61cmx12m is paper with a stated weight of 285 GSM, supplied in a 61cm by 12m format. It suits photographers, printmakers and studios looking for a particular paper type and roll size for their printing work. The useful thing here is how clearly the product is named: you can consider the Torchon designation, weight and dimensions when choosing paper for a planned job. At Renz, we’d start by matching the paper format to the layout you intend to print. Its width gives you a defined working measure, while the length tells you how much paper there is to plan across a run of prints. Those measurements describe the paper format; the number of finished prints will depend on the dimensions and layout you choose.

Planning your print layout

Before setting up a job, sketch out the intended print sizes and arrange them within the width you plan to use. That makes it easier to think through how the paper will be divided, and to allow for borders or trimming where your layout calls for them. With paper supplied in a roll format, the length used by each job depends on the way you arrange and cut your prints. Keeping track of those cut lengths can help organise repeat work, too.

GSM is a paper-weight measure expressed in grams per square metre. It gives you a standard way to compare the stated weight of different papers, though weight alone doesn’t describe every aspect of how a paper will suit a particular print. Here, the product name gives you a specific paper type and a clear format to consider. If those match the needs of your work, you have the key details for deciding whether this roll fits your print plan.
