Hawke Sunshade Honeycomb Objective 20mm
Hawke Sunshade Honeycomb Objective 20mm | Shade a 20mm objective from stray light
More controlled light at the objective can help keep unwanted flare out of your view. The Hawke Sunshade Honeycomb Objective 20mm is a front-end sunshade for an optic with a 20mm objective, with a honeycomb design intended to limit light arriving from the side. It suits anyone who uses a compatible 20mm objective in bright or changeable light and wants a simple way to shade the front of the optic. That can be useful outdoors, particularly when sunlight is coming in at an angle rather than straight ahead. The practical benefit is modest but specific: less stray light reaching the objective can mean a clearer, less washed-out view. It won’t change focus or exposure, and it isn’t a substitute for positioning yourself out of direct glare. If side light is the distraction, this is a purpose-made accessory to address it.
Specialist Note
20mm is the objective size this sunshade is made around, so I’d consider it for an optic with that exact front objective rather than treating it as a general-purpose hood. The honeycomb face is there to screen off-angle light while leaving the view ahead open; that’s helpful when you’re observing outdoors with bright sky or sunlight just outside your line of sight. I’d use it to reduce the chance of stray light washing across the view, while still adjusting my position if the sun is shining directly into the objective. It’s a focused accessory, and its usefulness depends on matching that 20mm objective.
