JJC HN-2 Nikon Lens Hood
JJC HN-2 Nikon Lens Hood | Help keep stray light off your lens
Reducing stray light before it reaches the front of a lens can help keep veiling glare down, so bright side light is less likely to wash contrast from a scene. The JJC HN-2 Nikon Lens Hood is a lens-hood accessory identified for Nikon use; HN-2 is its model designation. It suits photographers who want a simple way to shade the lens when working outdoors, near a window, or with a bright light source just outside the frame. That makes it especially relevant for portraits against a bright sky, street scenes in low winter sun, and everyday travel photographs where the light changes as you turn. A hood can help manage unwanted light, but it won't remove flare from every angle or replace careful exposure. Keep the light source in mind and use the hood as one practical part of controlling contrast.
Specialist Note
The open rim of the HN-2 gives you a physical shade at the lens front; in side light, that can help keep stray illumination from lowering contrast. I’d consider it for Nikon-lens users making a portrait with bright sky behind the subject or photographing a street scene with low sun just outside the frame: keep the light source just beyond the edge of the composition and let the hood do its shading work. The model name matters when identifying this accessory: HN-2 is the designation to match to the hood you need. I like that it has one clear job. It won’t cure flare from light striking the lens directly, so changing your angle still matters.
