Kaiser Filteradapter 72-77
Kaiser Filteradapter 72-77 | Use larger filters on a smaller thread
Your larger filters can work on a lens with a smaller filter thread, so you can keep a familiar filter in rotation rather than setting it aside. The Kaiser Filteradapter 72-77 links a 72mm lens thread to a 77mm filter. It suits photographers who already own 77mm filters and have a lens with a 72mm front thread, and want a straightforward way to use them together. The practical gain is a shared filter size across those two sizes: handy when packing a filter set or moving a filter between compatible lenses, without buying another version just for that pairing. This is a size-specific adapter, not a universal fitting; the lens thread and filter diameter need to match its two ends. If those are the sizes in your kit, it offers a simple way to connect them.
For a tidy setup, screw the adapter onto the lens before fitting the filter. Start the threads gently and keep the pieces straight as you turn them; that helps avoid cross-threading. Once fitted, the adapter gives you a direct way to use your larger filters on the lens with the smaller thread.
Specialist Note
New owners sometimes expect an adapter like this to change what a filter does; its job is simply to bridge the lens thread and the filter size. Here, 72mm is the lens-side fit, while 77mm is the filter it accepts, so use it when those are the two measurements in your setup. It suits someone with a 77mm polariser or another filter who wants to use it on a lens with a 72mm thread: attach the adapter first, then fit the filter. It can also help keep a set of larger filters in use across lenses with matching fittings. The limit is straightforward: it won’t suit a different thread size, so match both ends.
