Kaiser Smartcluster Vario 8

Kaiser Smartcluster Vario 8 - 104 LEDs in a compact panel

The Kaiser Smartcluster Vario 8 packs 104 SMD LEDs into a light about the size of a smartphone, with a colour temperature you can adjust from 3200K to 6500K. That combination makes this compact LED camera light a good fit for photographers and video makers who need a controllable light source without carrying a larger panel. Its CRI of at least 96 supports natural-looking colour in close-up portraits and product clips, where accurate skin tones and product colours matter. For a short interview or a talking-head video, you can set the colour temperature to suit the look of the scene and use the panel as a dedicated light on your subject. For small product photography, the high colour-rendering rating is useful when colour needs to look convincing on screen. It also works as a compact light for simple video scenes, where its built-in flicker effects offer more than a steady beam. The Vario 8 has a dimmer for adjusting output and an information display that shows the battery level, so its useful details are right on the unit. It’s a small light with specific controls, rather than a basic panel with a single fixed colour setting.

On location

• 300 lux at 1 metre: This measured output gives you a clear reference for placing the light. It’s suited to nearer subjects and smaller scenes, rather than lighting a large space from across the room.
• Dimmable output: Adjust the brightness to suit the subject and the surrounding light. That’s handy when you need a more restrained fill than the panel’s full output.
• Five flicker effects: The built-in effects provide five options for adding a flashing light effect to video. They’re a specific creative feature, separate from the lamp’s regular adjustable illumination.
• Battery information display: The display shows the battery level, so you can see the remaining charge on the unit while working. It’s useful feedback from a light with its own power source.
• Integrated lithium-ion battery: The rechargeable battery is built into the panel, keeping the light self-contained rather than requiring a separate battery pack as part of its basic design.
• Aluminium housing: The robust metal housing protects the compact light and gives it a solid, practical body for regular use in a photo or video setup.
