Kase Revolution Plus ND8 72mm
Kase Revolution Plus ND8 72mm | Add motion with moderate light control
The defining choice in the Kase Revolution Plus ND8 is its moderate neutral-density strength. ND8 reduces the light reaching the camera by three stops, giving you room to use a slower shutter speed or a wider aperture in bright conditions. That’s useful when you want movement in water or want to soften the look of a passing cloud without making a major exposure change. The 72mm size matters just as much as the density: it’s intended for a lens with a matching 72mm filter size. This filter suits photographers who want a measured amount of light reduction for landscape work and other daylight scenes. It’s best for controlled adjustments, rather than the very long exposures that call for a much stronger filter. If you’re choosing between filter strengths, think about how much slower you need your shutter speed to be.
Specialist Note
Exposure planning stays straightforward with ND8: if your starting exposure is 1/125 sec, the three-stop reduction brings it to about 1/15 sec at the same aperture and ISO. That can give a stream a gentle blur while retaining detail in the surrounding rocks; for that effect, meter first, then lengthen the shutter speed by three stops. It can also help when you want a wider aperture in daylight. The 72mm size means you’ll need a lens with a matching filter size, so it’s worth matching that number before choosing it. I’d point this filter toward moderate changes: its strength won’t produce extremely long exposures on its own in bright midday light.
