LaCie Porsche Design 8Tb 3.5 Usb-C Silver STFE8000401

LaCie Porsche Design 8Tb 3.5 Usb-C Silver STFE8000401 | Spacious external storage

The defining choice is the 3.5-inch format: it gives this LaCie a desk-side role, rather than making it a drive you’d choose for a pocket. With 8TB of capacity, it suits people who want a single place for a sizeable collection of files, such as photos, video or project folders. The silver finish and Porsche Design name give it a considered look for a workspace where storage is kept in view. Its connection is USB-C, so that’s the interface to consider when deciding how it’ll fit into your setup. This is an external hard drive, not a promise of faster editing or automatic backup; those depend on your computer and how you use the drive. If you’re looking to keep a substantial archive close at hand, its capacity is the main reason to consider it.

Room for an archive

A large drive is most useful when you have a clear plan for what belongs on it. You might set aside space for a growing photo library, completed projects or files you don’t need on your computer every day. Keeping an archive together can make it easier to organise than spreading files across several smaller drives, though the folder system is up to you. Think about how you’ll use the stored files and where the drive will live before choosing a place for it. The LaCie’s combination of substantial capacity and desk-oriented size points to a simple job: keeping a lot of data in one external location.
