The Laowa Venus 7.5mm f/2.0 Standard - M4/3 Silver is an ultra-wide prime for Micro Four Thirds cameras, with a 7.5mm focal length and a 111° angle of view. It suits photographers who want to include more foreground and sky in a landscape, or frame architecture when stepping farther back isn’t an option. For astro work, the broad view gives you room to build a composition around a larger patch of sky. This is a manual-focus lens, so it rewards a considered approach: take time to arrange the frame and set focus before you shoot. The silver finish gives this version a distinctive look; its purpose is simple—wide, deliberate compositions on an MFT body.

Specialist Note

For getting a whole façade into the frame when there’s no room to step back, this lens offers a direct solution. Its f/2 maximum aperture lets in more light for dim scenes, which can help you keep shutter times shorter or avoid raising ISO as much. For a night-sky frame, you could start around 10 seconds at f/2, then adjust after checking the result. Manual focus suits careful architecture and astro work: take your time setting focus before the exposure. On Micro Four Thirds, the view is equivalent to 15mm on full frame. That’s very wide, so a close foreground object near the edge can take over the composition; place it deliberately.
