Nikon AS-10 Multiflitsadapter
Nikon AS-10 Multiflitsadapter | Trigger off-camera flash for portraits
The Nikon AS-10 Multiflitsadapter is a flash trigger and transmitter for firing off-camera flashes. It’s built for photographers who want to place flash away from the camera for portraits or product shots, rather than keep the light at the camera position. That gives you room to arrange the light around your subject: for a portrait, you can place it to one side; for a product, you can direct it toward the object and adjust the setup to suit its shape. The AS-10 has a focused role in that lighting setup: it triggers the off-camera flash. It isn’t the flash itself, and it won’t decide where the light should fall. You choose the placement and use the trigger to fire the flash when you make the picture. If you’re building a simple portrait or product-lighting setup, this is the kind of accessory to consider when you need to trigger flash off camera.
Specialist Note
In a small portrait setup, the subject takes their place while the flash sits off to one side; the AS-10 earns its place by triggering that off-camera light. I’d point it out to someone who wants more control over where the light comes from in portraits, or who needs to light a product without leaving the flash at the camera. Keep the flash off camera and arrange it to suit the subject, then use the AS-10 for the trigger role. It’s a specific tool, not a lighting kit: you’ll still need the flash and your chosen arrangement to shape the result.
