OWC Express 1M2 USB4 (80GB/s) 4TB Bus-Powered Portable NVMe SSD

OWC Express 1M2 USB4 (80GB/s) 4TB Bus-Powered Portable NVMe SSD | 4TB of portable storage

Instead of juggling smaller drives or keeping a working set on your computer, you can carry your files on the OWC Express 1M2. It’s a portable, bus-powered NVMe SSD with 4TB of storage, aimed at photographers and other creators who need a substantial amount of data close at hand. The title also specifies USB4 and 80GB/s, making its speed figure part of the appeal. That can make it an interesting option for a workflow where moving or working with large files matters, though the drive’s name alone doesn’t tell you what transfer speeds you’ll see in practice.

Its 4TB capacity gives you room to keep a sizeable collection of photographs, video files or active projects together, rather than splitting everything across several smaller storage devices. And because it’s described as bus-powered, the drive is designed to draw its power through its connection rather than relying on a separate power supply. That keeps the idea simple: one portable storage device to take along with your work. The honest point is that its headline speed figure isn’t the whole story; the connection and the rest of your setup matter to real-world performance. Still, the combination of a stated 4TB capacity and portable NVMe storage makes this a focused option for carrying a large working library.
