Paterson PAT117 Multi Reel 5 Tank(Exc.spir)

Paterson PAT117 Multi Reel 5 Tank | A five-reel format for film processing

Keep a multi-roll darkroom session organised around a tank named for five reels. The Paterson PAT117 Multi Reel 5 Tank is intended for photographers who process film and want a tank with that five-reel format at the centre of their workflow. It suits people handling several rolls in a session better than someone looking for a small, single-reel setup. One important detail is in the product name: “Exc. spir” means the spirals are excluded. So this is a focused option if you’re sourcing the tank itself and already have, or plan to obtain separately, the spirals for your process. It’s also a useful detail to notice before choosing: the five-reel description doesn’t mean the spirals come with it. The appeal here is straightforward—one Paterson tank, identified for a five-reel workflow, without any guesswork about that exclusion.

What to note before choosing

The PAT117 name gives you two practical points to work with: it’s the Multi Reel 5 Tank, and spirals are excluded. That makes the listing most relevant when you know you want this particular tank format and have considered the separate spiral requirement. If you’re comparing darkroom supplies, keep those two details together rather than reading “5” as a statement about every part of a setup. This product description is about the tank named in the title; it doesn’t establish which spirals suit it or what else you may need for your process. For a film photographer planning a multi-reel session, that clear distinction helps set expectations before the tank becomes part of a darkroom routine.
