PGYTECH Osmo Pocket 3/4 CPL Filter
PGYTECH Osmo Pocket 3/4 CPL Filter | Reduce glare in bright scenes
The defining choice here is a CPL, or circular polarizing filter: it’s designed to reduce reflected glare and bring out richer-looking skies when the light and camera angle are right. PGYTECH names this filter for the Osmo Pocket 3/4, so it’s aimed at people who want to manage reflections while filming with those cameras. That can be useful beside water, through a shop window or when a bright sky looks washed out in a moving shot. The effect depends on your position relative to the light, so a small change in camera angle can make a visible difference. A polarizer also reduces the light reaching the camera, which is worth bearing in mind in dim conditions. This is a focused accessory for controlling reflections and sky appearance, rather than a general-purpose filter for every scene.
Specialist Note
People filming boats, shopfronts or open skies with an Osmo Pocket 3/4 are the ones I’d point towards this PGYTECH filter. Because it’s a CPL, its job is to tame reflections; when filming water, shift your position slightly and watch the surface in the frame until the glare eases. For a blue-sky shot, try a different angle to the sun and judge the change on screen. The Osmo Pocket 3/4 naming makes its intended camera pairing clear. One trade-off: polarizing filters cut some light, so I’d save it for brighter scenes rather than rely on it in a dim interior.
