PGYTECH Osmo Pocket 4p Black Mist 1 4 Filter
PGYTECH Osmo Pocket 4p Black Mist 1/4 Filter | Softer highlights, a gentler image
For a gentler rendering of bright highlights, the PGYTECH Osmo Pocket 4p Black Mist 1/4 Filter adds a soft, atmospheric look to footage made with the Osmo Pocket 4p. Its 1/4 strength gives you a way to bring that effect into a scene without choosing a stronger Black Mist rating. It suits creators who want portraits, evening lights or bright windows to feel less crisp and clinical. The filter’s appeal is in the character it gives the image, rather than in changing the subject or framing. Use it when you want highlights to feel softer while keeping the scene recognisable; it’s a considered choice for stylised video and images, not a neutral look for every situation. If you prefer hard-edged detail and a clean, high-contrast rendering, the Black Mist effect may not match your taste.
The look in practice
Try it in a scene with small bright points against a darker background, such as decorative lights, or in a portrait with a bright window behind the subject. Those are situations where the softer highlight character can be part of the image’s mood. The 1/4 strength gives you a defined effect to work with; it isn’t a promise of a particular result in every lighting setup. The light, framing and subject still shape the final look.
Specialist Note
The 1/4 strength is the detail I’d focus on first: it gives the Black Mist look a specific, restrained level, rather than leaving the effect undefined. The name also tells you what sort of image this is for: softer highlight rendering, not a neutral filter look. I’d suggest it to Osmo Pocket 4p owners who want more atmosphere in a portrait or in footage of bright lights; compose so those highlights are visible and let them contribute to the mood. It’s a creative choice, though, and if you want crisp, punchy contrast throughout, this effect may not be for you.
