Pixel Ontspankabel RC-201/N3 For Canon

Pixel RC-201/N3 Remote Shutter Release Cable for Canon | Control the shutter from a distance

Pressing the shutter button on the camera means putting a hand on the camera itself. The Pixel RC-201/N3 Remote Shutter Release Cable for Canon gives you a wired alternative, with a 110 cm cable between the camera and its release control. It’s for Canon EOS DSLR users who want to operate the shutter from a little way off, such as when the camera is positioned for a self-portrait or a carefully framed scene. Press the control halfway and the camera focuses; press it all the way and the camera takes the picture. A lock position can keep the camera shooting or hold the shutter open, depending on the camera’s settings. That makes the cable useful for both repeated exposures and longer exposures where the shutter needs to stay open. The release is straightforward in operation, but do bear in mind that its cable is permanently attached to the control unit.

Highlights

• 110 cm cable: The cable provides a measured gap between you and the camera, so you can operate the release without standing right beside the body. Its length is a clear practical limit to the distance.
• Two-stage release button: A half-press activates focusing, while a full press fires the shutter. The familiar two-step action separates focus from taking the picture.
• Lock position: The button can be held in its locked position for continued shooting or to keep the shutter open. The selected camera settings determine how those functions behave.
• Direct cable connection: The RC-201 connects to the camera by cable rather than operating as a wireless trigger. There’s no separate wireless operation to manage.
• For listed Canon EOS models: Compatibility covers a range of EOS DSLR bodies, from the 10D through to the 7D, including several 5D and 1D models. See the specification list for the full compatibility details.

Good to know

The cable is fixed to the RC-201 control unit, so it can’t be swapped for a different cable. Also, the lock function doesn’t set the camera’s exposure mode for you: the camera must be configured appropriately to keep the shutter open or continue shooting. Those two details are worth considering if you need a replaceable lead or plan to use the hold function.
