PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 6-9 - Black Mist - 49mm - McKinnon Series
PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 6-9 - Black Mist - 49mm - McKinnon Series | Control light and soften highlights in one filter
Bright daylight can make it difficult to keep a video exposure where you want it, especially if you also want to manage reflections. The PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 6-9 combines variable neutral-density and polarizing functions with a Black Mist effect, so it brings several creative choices into one filter. Its 6–9 designation gives you a variable range for reducing light, while the polarizing element is useful when reflections on surfaces such as water or glass are part of the scene. Black Mist adds a softer look to highlights; that’s a deliberate rendering choice, rather than a neutral, invisible effect. The 49mm size makes this version relevant to lenses that take 49mm filters. It suits video makers and photographers who want to shape exposure and the look of highlights together, and who are happy for that misted character to be part of the image.
Specialist Note
This filter avoids stacking a separate variable ND and polarizer when you need both in the same shot. I’d consider it for daylight video with reflective water or glass: use the variable range to reduce incoming light, then adjust the polarizing effect to manage reflections. The 6–9 range gives you room to work across changing brightness, while the Black Mist character softens highlights rather than keeping them crisp and clinical. That makes it a considered pick for creators who want a more atmospheric look as well as exposure control. One practical point: if you want a clean, sharply defined rendering, the Black Mist effect may not suit the brief. The 49mm version is for a lens with a 49mm filter thread.
