Radius 15cm Nimbus Windshield (19/22)
Radius 15cm Nimbus Windshield (19/22) | A focused aid for outdoor recording
Radius 15cm Nimbus Windshield (19/22) is a microphone windshield for people recording outdoors who want to manage wind disturbance in their sound. Its name gives you two selection clues: the 15cm designation and the 19/22 designation, which you can compare with the microphone setup you plan to use. It’s relevant for location recordists, interviewers and anyone capturing speech or ambient sound outside, where even a light breeze can become distracting in a recording. Use it when wind is the issue you’re trying to address, rather than as a fix for noisy surroundings or poor microphone placement. The Nimbus is a focused accessory for outdoor recording: a straightforward option to consider when choosing a windshield, with its size designations clearly stated. If you’re matching it to existing equipment, use those markings as your starting point rather than assuming a universal fit.
Specialist Note
A breezy quay, an interview about to begin, and a microphone exposed to the gusts: that’s the kind of moment when a windshield earns its place. I’d consider the Nimbus for outdoor interviews or spoken location recordings where wind is getting into the sound. The 15cm designation gives you a specific size reference when planning your setup; the 19/22 marking is another detail to compare with your microphone before choosing it. Keep expectations realistic: a windshield can help with wind, but it won’t remove traffic noise or handling sounds. For an exposed recording spot, pairing it with a more sheltered position is sensible.
