Radius 5cm Nimbus Windshield (19/22) Black Fur
Radius 5cm Nimbus Windshield (19/22) Black Fur | Help tame wind on location
Radius 5cm Nimbus Windshield (19/22) Black Fur is a black-fur microphone windshield with a 5cm designation, built for people recording speech or sound where moving air can spoil a take. If you make outdoor interviews, capture location dialogue or record a presenter near an open window, it gives you a straightforward way to reduce wind buffeting at the microphone. The 19/22 marking is an important matching reference: use it to identify the microphone size this windshield is intended for, rather than choosing by appearance alone. Fur is the practical detail for breezy recording, where a bare microphone can pick up distracting gusts. It’s a focused accessory, not a solution for every noisy recording situation; it addresses wind, while traffic, crowds and other background sounds still need to be managed separately. For spoken-word recording in changeable air, it helps keep wind from becoming the main thing you hear.
Specialist Note
With the windshield in place, you can spend less attention reacting to a passing breeze and more on the interview itself. I’d match the 19/22 marking to the microphone before setting up; that’s the detail that helps avoid a poor fit. The 5cm designation is another useful reference when you’re checking the specific version you need. For an outdoor conversation, fit it before recording and keep the microphone positioned for the speaker rather than turning it toward the wind. The black fur finish suits a low-key setup on camera, too. It’s best thought of as wind protection, not noise cancellation: it won’t remove voices or traffic in the background.
