Revar Cine 138mm Close-Up Diopter +0.50
Revar Cine 138mm Close-Up Diopter +0.50 | Gentle close-up focusing for cine work
The Revar Cine 138mm Close-Up Diopter +0.50 offers a mild close-up adjustment rather than a high-strength step into extreme magnification. That makes it a considered option for cine users who want to bring a subject closer in the frame while keeping the change restrained. Its +0.50 strength is the key detail: a close-up diopter helps a lens focus nearer than it otherwise can, and this relatively gentle rating suits small details, product shots and close portraits where you want to work in tighter without making the effect the whole picture. The 138mm designation places it in a specialist cine format, so it’s for setups built around that size rather than a general-purpose filter purchase. If you’re shaping a shot with a cine lens and want a subtle way to explore closer framing, this is the sort of accessory to consider. It’s a focused tool, not a shortcut to high magnification.
Specialist Note
First-time diopter users often expect a dramatic macro effect; the +0.50 strength here is much gentler, which helps when you want a closer view without making the subject feel excessively enlarged. I’d consider it for details in a product scene or a close portrait: frame the subject, add the diopter, then refocus through your lens to find the nearer plane that suits the shot. The 138mm designation matters when planning a cine setup around that format, so treat it as a specialist-size accessory, not a universal filter. It’s best for measured close-up work; if you need very high magnification, a +0.50 diopter may be too mild on its own.
