Rodenstock HR Digital Circ Pol 55
Rodenstock HR Digital Circ Pol 55 | Control reflections in bright scenes
Rodenstock HR Digital Circ Pol 55 is a circular polarizing filter, made for photographers who want more control over reflected light in their pictures. Its name identifies the HR Digital range and the 55 designation; it’s a specialist filter for considered outdoor and still-life work, rather than an all-purpose accessory. A polarizer can reduce reflections from surfaces such as water and glass, and can deepen the appearance of a blue sky. You rotate it while looking through the viewfinder or at the screen, adjusting the effect to suit the scene. That makes it useful when reflections are obscuring detail, or when you want to manage the look of a scene without relying on software afterwards. It’s particularly suited to landscape, travel and architectural photographers who take time to assess the light and make small adjustments. The effect depends on the angle of the light and your position, so it won’t make every reflection disappear. The filter’s colour is black.
Specialist Note
A bright shop window catches the street at midday, and the display behind the glass is hard to see. This is the sort of situation where the Rodenstock HR Digital Circ Pol 55 earns its place: rotate the circular polarizer while watching the reflection, and stop when the subject behind the glass reads clearly. The “Circ Pol” designation tells you the filter type, while “55” is the size designation in the product name—useful details when choosing this particular filter. I’d recommend it to photographers who work deliberately with landscapes, water or glass. One honest limitation: the result depends on the scene’s light and viewing angle, so it’s a control to adjust, not a switch that removes every reflection.
