Rodenstock PLC Digital Pro 55mm
Rodenstock PLC Digital Pro 55mm | Tame reflections and deepen skies
Less distracting glare on water and glass, and richer-looking skies: that’s what a polarizing filter can bring to your photographs. The Rodenstock PLC Digital Pro is a polarizing filter for photographers who want more control over reflections and contrast while shooting outdoors. Its effect depends on the light and the angle of the filter, so you can adjust it as you frame the scene rather than relying on a fixed look. It’s particularly useful for landscapes, travel photographs and scenes with reflective surfaces, where glare can obscure detail or make colours look washed out. Rotate the filter while viewing the scene to find the balance that suits you. The result isn’t the same in every situation, and a polarizer can reduce the light reaching the camera, so keep an eye on your exposure as you work. The 55mm size is a key fit detail: it’s intended for a lens with a matching filter thread.
Specialist Note
A common first-time mistake with a polarizer is expecting it to remove every reflection at once. Its effect changes as you rotate it, so take a moment to watch the scene and choose how much glare you want to reduce. This Rodenstock is a 55mm polarizing filter, which makes the matching thread size the first thing to get right; it’s a practical pick for someone using a lens with that size who often photographs water, shop windows or open skies. For water or glass, adjust the filter while framing until details show through more clearly. For skies, turn it gradually and judge the colour in the scene. One trade-off: remember to account for the light it takes away.
