Rycote 15cm SGM Foam (19/22) (10 Pack)
Rycote 15cm SGM Foam (19/22) (10 Pack) | Foam covers for compatible SGM microphones
For a microphone exposed to moving air, a foam cover can help keep wind noise from distracting from speech. The Rycote 15cm SGM Foam (19/22) (10 Pack) is a set of black foam covers for SGM microphones in the 15 cm size, with the 19/22 designation identifying the sizes this version is intended for. It suits sound recordists and production teams who need replacement covers for compatible microphones, or want several spares ready to hand. Foam is a straightforward option for everyday use: it sits over the microphone and helps soften the effect of light air movement during dialogue recording. The ten-piece pack is especially practical when covers are shared, misplaced or need replacing over time. This isn’t a substitute for a dedicated wind protection system in strong wind, but for ordinary recording conditions it’s a simple way to keep a microphone covered and ready for use.
Specialist Note
A bare microphone can pick up distracting air movement, and a correctly sized foam cover is an easy way to address that in calmer recording conditions. This Rycote pack is for 15 cm SGM microphones, so the length is the key detail when you’re choosing a replacement; the 19/22 sizing also helps narrow it to the intended fit. I’d keep a few on hand for dialogue work, especially if microphones are regularly shared between people or setups. With ten black covers in the pack, you can replace one without needing to order a single spare at a time. Just bear in mind that foam has limits in stronger wind, where more substantial protection may be needed.
