Rycote Duck Raincover 7
Rycote Duck Raincover 7 | A rain cover for microphone work
The Rycote Duck Raincover 7 is identified specifically as a raincover for microphones, making its purpose clear: it’s for audio work where rain may reach the microphone. It’ll suit sound recordists and video crews who need to keep working outdoors when the weather turns wet, particularly for location interviews or recording the sound of a place. Rather than being a general camera accessory, this is a microphone-focused piece of kit. That makes it relevant when protecting the audio setup is part of preparing for a shoot. A raincover can help keep rain off the microphone, but it isn’t a reason to ignore changing conditions or leave other equipment exposed. If your work takes you outside, this is the kind of accessory to consider as part of your wet-weather audio setup. The product name identifies the model as “7”; it doesn’t, by itself, tell you which microphone shapes it suits, so choose it for the stated raincover purpose rather than assuming a particular fit.
Specialist Note
The Rycote Duck Raincover 7 is made for the straightforward job of covering a microphone from rain. Since it’s listed as a microphone accessory, I’d consider it for outdoor interviews or gathering ambient sound when a shower could interrupt recording. The “Raincover” part of the name is the useful clue: this is for the audio side of a setup, not for covering a camera. I’d plan where the microphone needs to sit before fitting any cover, so the recording position still makes sense. One practical limit: it addresses rain around the microphone, not the rest of your equipment, so keep the wider kit protected too.
