Rycote Sony PCM-D100 Mini Windjamer (New Style)
Rycote Sony PCM-D100 Mini Windjamer (New Style) | A compact wind cover for outdoor recording
The Rycote Sony PCM-D100 Mini Windjamer (New Style) is a compact wind cover made for the Sony PCM-D100. It’s for PCM-D100 owners who record outdoors and want to reduce wind reaching the microphones, whether they’re capturing spoken audio or the sound of a place. The Mini format keeps the accessory specific to this recorder rather than a general-purpose cover. Fit it over the recorder’s microphones before you start recording; it helps address wind noise at the source, rather than trying to fix it later. That makes it a practical addition for interviews outside, quiet ambience, or quick recordings on a breezy day. It won’t remove traffic, voices or other sounds around you, and no wind cover can promise silence in strong gusts. But for the wind itself, this is a focused accessory for the PCM-D100, with no extra controls or setup to learn.
Specialist Note
Along a canal in the morning, a light breeze can quickly become the loudest thing in a PCM-D100 recording. I’d fit this Mini Windjamer before starting, then keep the recorder aimed at the voice or scene you want to capture. Its compact, model-specific format suits PCM-D100 owners who want a dedicated cover rather than a larger general-purpose option. The black colour is discreet, which is handy when you’d rather the recorder draw little attention during an outdoor interview. It’s a focused solution for wind at the microphones, not a way to remove surrounding sounds or tame every strong gust; for those, you’ll still need to choose your recording spot carefully.
