Rycote Zipped Windjammer 295
Rycote Zipped Windjammer 295 | Wind protection for microphone recording
For recording speech or ambient sound outdoors, a windjammer is intended to help reduce wind noise reaching the microphone. The Rycote Zipped Windjammer 295 is a microphone accessory with a zipped design; the 295 identifies the model. It’s suited to recording situations where moving air could distract from the sound you’re trying to capture, such as an outdoor interview or a quiet stretch of location audio. The zip gives the cover a closure, which is useful when putting it on or taking it off as your setup changes. For clearer speech, keep the microphone close to the person speaking and use the windjammer when recording in breezy conditions. It addresses wind at the microphone, rather than background sounds such as traffic or nearby voices, so placement still matters. This is a focused accessory for wind-conscious recording, rather than a general microphone upgrade.
Specialist Note
The zip is the practical detail here: it gives the Rycote Zipped Windjammer 295 a clear way to close around a microphone, rather than leaving you to treat it as an open-ended cover. The word “Windjammer” tells you its role: use it when moving air threatens to become part of your recording. For an outdoor interview, bring the microphone close to the speaker and use the cover to help keep wind from masking their voice. It also makes sense for recording outdoor ambience when a breeze picks up. The 295 is the model identifier, so use the full name when looking for this particular Rycote accessory.
