Saramonic VWS - Wind protection for microphones up to 380 mm

The Saramonic VWS combines a furry windscreen with a suspension system for shotgun and pencil microphones up to 380 mm long. It’s made for sound recordists who need to take a microphone outdoors in strong wind, while also wanting isolation from movement and handling noise in quieter settings. The fit covers standard microphones with a diameter of 19–23 mm, including Saramonic’s TM1, TM7 and NV5 models. Outdoors, the VWS’s acoustic-transparent furry cover provides a protective outer layer for recording in difficult weather. Indoors, the suspension system is suited to boom work, a stand or handheld operation using the integrated grip. That range of working positions makes it useful for location sound as well as controlled indoor recording. Rather than being just a removable furry cover, the VWS brings wind protection and microphone suspension together as one system. The microphone itself isn’t included, so you can use a compatible mic you already own. Why it is useful

• Suspension isolates the microphone: The shockmount is intended to reduce unwanted vibration and handling noise. That matters when a boom, stand or handheld grip transmits movement to the mic.
• Adjustable microphone angle: You can change the angle of the shockmount to position the microphone for the recording. The system also adjusts to accommodate standard shotgun microphones.
• Built-in coiled XLR cable: A short XLR cable runs inside the handle and suspension unit. Its internal routing keeps the connection within the system rather than leaving a loose cable outside it.
• Removable furry cover: The acoustically transparent outer layer can be taken off for milder conditions. This gives you the option to use the suspension system without the furry wind protection when it isn’t needed.

The handle’s base has a 3/8-inch thread for attaching the system to a boom pole, and a 1/4"-20 thread adapter is included for other mounting options. The VWS comes with a carrying bag. It’s supplied as a windshield and suspension system, not as a microphone kit, so plan to use a compatible microphone you already have or source one separately.
