SmallHD Sun Hood For 17 Production Monitors
SmallHD Sun Hood For 17 Production Monitors | Shade the screen from sun
Without a hood, direct sunlight can make a monitor harder to view on location. The SmallHD Sun Hood is an accessory for 17 Production Monitors, intended to shade the screen and make it easier to keep an eye on the picture in bright conditions. It suits camera crews and video professionals who need to judge a monitor outdoors or near strong daylight, rather than relying on a covered indoor viewing setup. Its purpose is focused: give the monitor a shaded viewing area when sunlight is getting in the way. That makes it most relevant for outdoor production, daylight setups and other locations where you can’t simply control the ambient light. This isn’t a display upgrade, and it won’t change the image itself; it addresses the practical problem of viewing the monitor in sun. If that’s the challenge you’re dealing with, this is the accessory to consider.
Specialist Note
A sun hood can’t make a monitor brighter, so it won’t solve every visibility problem in strong daylight. Its value is simpler: it gives your 17 Production Monitor shade when sunlight is washing across the screen. I’d consider it for outdoor interviews or a daylight video setup where the operator needs to keep watching the image while the camera is working. Place the monitor so the hood can help keep direct sun off the viewing area, then adjust your position if the light shifts. The fit is specific to 17 Production Monitors, so this makes sense when that’s the monitor you’re building your setup around.
