Tiffen 127POL 127mm Linear Polarizer

Tiffen 127POL 127mm Linear Polarizer | Reduce glare and deepen skies

Cut reflections from water and other non-metallic surfaces, and bring more depth to a blue sky. The Tiffen 127POL is a 127mm linear polarizer for photographers whose lens setup accepts this filter size. By reducing reflected light, it can reveal detail that glare would otherwise obscure and give colours a richer appearance. It’s especially useful for landscapes, architecture and scenes with reflective surfaces, where small changes in glare can alter the whole picture. Rotate the filter while viewing the scene to judge the effect and choose the amount that looks right. Polarization depends on the angle of the light, so the result varies with your viewpoint and the conditions; it won’t remove every reflection. This is a specialist filter for a specific 127mm setup, rather than a general-purpose option for lenses of other sizes.

For a landscape, try it with the camera aimed roughly 90 degrees from the sun; that’s where a polarizer can have its strongest effect on a blue sky. For water or glossy leaves, rotate the filter while watching the reflections change, stopping when the surface detail comes through without making the scene look unnaturally flat. The effect is visible as you adjust it, so you can make the call for each composition rather than relying on a fixed setting.
