Tiffen 44CGB4S 4x4 CLR/Blue 4 Grad SE Filter
Tiffen 44CGB4S 4x4 CLR/Blue 4 Grad SE Filter | Add a blue gradient to your frame
The Tiffen 44CGB4S is defined by its clear-to-blue graduated effect: it brings blue into part of the image while leaving the rest clear. It suits photographers and filmmakers who want to shape the colour of a scene in-camera, especially when a plain sky needs a deliberate blue treatment. The 4x4 format gives you a square filter to position as you compose, so you can place the gradient where it works with the scene rather than applying colour across the whole frame. Its “4 Grad” designation identifies the strength of this particular graduated effect; it’s best treated as a specific creative look, not a neutral correction filter. If you’re choosing a filter for accurate colour without an added blue tint, this isn’t the one. For controlled colour in a selected part of the image, though, the CLR/Blue grad is the point.
Specialist Note
The Tiffen 44CGB4S is for adding a blue grad to part of your image while keeping the other area clear. I’d consider it when a sky needs more blue character, or when you want a visible colour transition as part of a composed scene. The 4x4 format gives you room to position the gradient in the frame; take a moment to line its transition up with the horizon or another natural boundary. Its CLR/Blue 4 Grad marking tells you this is a defined colour effect, rather than a neutral filter for general correction. It suits someone who wants that look deliberately. If you need colour-neutral results, choose a different filter type.
