Tiffen 44LLPOL 4x4 Low Light Polarizer Filter
Tiffen 44LLPOL 4x4 Low Light Polarizer Filter | Control reflections while shooting
Cut down distracting reflections on glass or water while keeping the scene in front of you natural-looking. The Tiffen 44LLPOL 4x4 Low Light Polarizer Filter is a polarizing filter for photographers who want to manage reflections at capture, including in situations where a low-light polarizer is called for. It can suit careful landscape work, photographing through windows, or scenes with reflective surfaces that compete with the subject. Adjust the filter’s angle while watching the view, and you can find a position where unwanted reflections are reduced. The effect depends on the light and the surface, so it won’t remove every reflection in every scene. Its 4x4 format makes it a specific fit for photographers working with that filter format, rather than a general screw-on filter. If you need polarizing control in a 4x4 setup, this Tiffen filter gives you a direct way to work on reflections before the image is made.
Specialist Note
The Tiffen 44LLPOL tackles reflections while you’re making the picture, instead of leaving you to try to retouch them away later. Its 4x4 format suits a setup built around 4x4 filters, so it’s worth considering when that’s already how you work. The Low Light Polarizer name also points to its intended use: situations where you want polarization in lower light. I’d use it for reflections in a window or on water, adjusting the filter angle and checking the scene for the point where the reflection eases without losing the view you want. Polarization can’t remove every reflection, and the result depends on the scene.
