Tiffen 95CPOL 95C Linear Polarizer
Tiffen 95CPOL 95C Linear Polarizer | Control reflections and deepen skies
Without a polarizing filter, reflections on water, glass and glossy surfaces can compete with the subject. The Tiffen 95CPOL 95C Linear Polarizer is made to reduce that kind of glare and bring more definition to scenes where reflected light is getting in the way. It can also deepen the appearance of a blue sky, depending on the angle you’re shooting from. The effect changes as you adjust the filter, so you can judge it through the viewfinder or on screen rather than relying on a fixed setting. This is a useful tool for landscape and architectural photography, and for close views of shop windows or water where you want to see more of what lies beyond the surface. Its 95C designation points to a 95 mm filter size, so it suits a setup that accepts that diameter. Choose it for deliberate control of reflections, not as a general-purpose filter.
Specialist Note
A linear polarizer has a specific job, so it isn’t the filter I’d reach for when you simply want to reduce light across the whole frame. It earns its place when reflections are the problem. The 95 mm size is the practical point to get right: your lens or filter holder needs to accept that diameter. For a view across water, turn the filter while watching the reflected surface; you can settle on the angle that reveals more detail beneath it. It’s also handy for glass-fronted buildings, where adjusting the filter can tame distracting reflections. If those are the shots you make, this Tiffen gives you direct, visible control over the effect.
