Tokina Cinema 100mm Macro T2.9 PL (Feet) | Frame small details with precision

Small product details can be frustrating to frame when a standard lens won’t focus closely enough. The Tokina Cinema 100mm Macro T2.9 PL (Feet) is an interchangeable cinema lens made for that kind of close-up work. Its macro design suits detailed product shots and nature subjects, while the 100mm focal length gives you a tighter view that can help keep the framing focused on the subject. It’s intended for filmmakers who need to bring fine details forward, from the texture of an object to small elements in a natural scene. The lens uses a PL mount and manual focus, so it belongs in a cinema setup where focus is operated by hand. If your work calls for controlled close-up framing rather than a general-purpose view, this Tokina offers a dedicated tool for the job.

Specialist Note

“Is this Tokina a good fit for close-up product films?” Yes—it’s built for macro work, and the 100mm focal length helps you fill the frame with a small subject without making the view feel wide. For a product detail, move in to compose and use manual focus to place sharpness exactly where the detail matters. The T2.9 maximum aperture gives you room to work when you need more light through the lens, though at close range the focused area can be very shallow. It’s a considered pick for PL-mount cinema setups; it suits deliberate shots better than fast, casual reframing.
