Urth 39mm Variable ND2 32 + ¼ Black Mist Filter Pro
Urth 39mm Variable ND2-32 + 1/4 Black Mist Filter Pro | Control light, soften highlights
Bright scenes can keep a softer, more atmospheric look, while the variable ND range gives you room to manage the light reaching your camera. This Urth filter combines variable ND2-32 control with a 1/4 Black Mist effect, making it suited to photographers and filmmakers who want both adjustments in one filter. Use the ND control when strong daylight makes it difficult to choose the shutter speed or aperture you want; the Black Mist effect gently softens highlights and contrast for a less crisp, more diffused rendering. It’s particularly useful for outdoor video, portraits in bright light, and scenes with strong point highlights. The 39mm size is for lenses with a matching filter thread, so it’s worth checking that measurement before choosing it. The mist effect is part of the look, not a correction you can switch off separately.
Specialist Note
ND2-32 gives you a useful range of light control in practice: turn it toward ND32 when daylight is too bright for the slower shutter speed you want. I’d consider it for outdoor video, or for a longer exposure where you want moving water to appear softer. The 1/4 Black Mist adds a gentle diffusion to bright highlights, which can give portraits and night scenes a less clinical feel. It suits someone who wants that softened rendering alongside variable ND control, rather than a completely neutral image. Just keep in mind that the mist effect stays in the picture, so it’s not the filter I’d choose when you want crisp, high-contrast detail.
