Westcott Distressed Wood Matte Vinyl Backdrop (5'X7') Rich

Westcott Distressed Wood Matte Vinyl Backdrop (5'X7') Rich | Add a wood-look setting to your shots

Westcott Distressed Wood Matte Vinyl Backdrop (5'X7') Rich is a 5' x 7' matte vinyl backdrop with a distressed wood design. It’s for photographers who want a wood-look setting in the frame without making the real surface the subject of the shoot. Use it behind a still life, a product or a portrait when that textured backdrop suits the picture you have in mind. The matte finish is a helpful detail if you prefer a surface without a glossy look. Its 5' x 7' size gives you a defined area to compose against; plan your framing around that rather than assuming it will cover a larger set. The “Rich” name is part of the product title, so I’d avoid reading a specific colour into it. This backdrop is best approached as a visual surface: the distressed wood look does the scene-setting, while your subject stays in focus.

Working with the look

A distressed wood design can give a photograph a more rustic or lived-in feel. Keep the backdrop’s pattern in mind when placing the subject: a simpler arrangement can let the wood-look surface add context without competing for attention. For a close product shot, frame tightly enough that the background supports the item; for a portrait, decide how much of the design you want visible around the person. These are styling suggestions, not fixed rules—the right balance depends on the subject and composition. The matte finish and printed design make this a straightforward option when you want that particular look in the background rather than a plain surface. It’s a specific visual choice, so it’ll suit shoots where distressed wood belongs in the image, not every setup.
