Western Digital 6TB Gold 256 MB 3.5IN SATA 6GB/s 7200RPM

Western Digital 6TB Gold 256 MB 3.5IN SATA 6GB/s 7200RPM | 6TB of SATA storage in a 3.5-inch drive

What sets this Western Digital Gold drive apart is its combination of 6TB capacity and a 3.5-inch SATA format. It’s suited to someone choosing a drive for a storage setup that specifically calls for this size and connection, and who wants substantial capacity in one drive. The title also gives its 256 MB cache and 7200RPM rotational speed, useful details when comparing drives by their stated specifications. This is a considered pick when those numbers match the requirements of your setup; capacity alone shouldn’t decide it. Pay attention to the physical format and interface as well as the amount of storage you need. The name identifies it as a Gold model from Western Digital, while the figures provide the concrete details for judging whether it belongs in your build.

Choosing the right fit

Start with the space available for a 3.5-inch drive, then make sure the SATA connection is the one your storage setup calls for. Those physical and connection requirements are easy to overlook when a capacity figure catches your eye. If your plan depends on a particular transfer-rate rating or rotational speed, compare the listed numbers against that requirement rather than assuming they’ll be interchangeable with another drive.

It also helps to think about how much room you want available on a single drive. A 6TB model gives you that stated capacity in one unit, but the right amount depends on your own storage needs. The details below are a quick reference for comparing this drive with the requirements you’re shopping to.
