Specialist Note
The focus ring makes this a lens for active, considered focusing: you set the subject’s sharpness yourself, which is useful when an actor moves through a planned mark or you want a controlled focus change during a scene. On a Micro Four Thirds body, 35mm gives a full-frame-equivalent angle of view of about 70mm, so I’d use it for a tighter interview frame or a portrait within a film scene. The T1.5 maximum aperture is helpful in a dim interior, though opening up leaves less room for focus errors. If you need autofocus to follow unpredictable movement, this manual-focus lens isn’t the right fit.
