Yongnuo YN560 IV Negative Display | Flash for portraits and events

The defining design choice is the negative display, the detail that identifies this version of Yongnuo’s YN560 IV. It’s a speedlight flash for photographers who need an added light source for people and events, rather than a general-purpose camera accessory. Its strongest stated uses are indoor portraits, event photography and fill light in harsh sun. At an indoor portrait session, flash can add light to your subject; at an event, it can help when the room light leaves faces looking dim. Outdoors, fill flash can soften the effect of strong sunlight on a face. That makes the YN560 IV relevant for photographers working across changing conditions, from a portrait indoors to a gathering outside. The name’s Negative Display detail helps identify the version; the reason to consider it is its role as a speedlight for those practical lighting situations.

Specialist Note

Photographers making indoor portraits or covering gatherings will get the clearest use from this Yongnuo. Because it’s a speedlight, think of it as an added flash source: for a portrait, use it to bring light onto your subject; for harsh sun, use it as fill so the face doesn’t rely on sunlight alone. The Negative Display name is the detail to look for when you want this specific version of the YN560 IV, though it doesn’t change the situations I’d recommend it for. One sensible limit: a single speedlight isn’t a substitute for a larger lighting setup when you need broad, soft light across a scene.
