Olympus FLRA-1 Reflector Adapter | A reflector option for Olympus speedlights

Without a reflector adapter, a speedlight setup has no reflector adapter in the mix. The Olympus FLRA-1 is made for use with the Olympus FL-50R, FL-36R, FL-50 and FL-36 speedlights, giving photographers a way to bring a reflector into their flash setup. It’s relevant if you cover events, make indoor portraits or use flash as fill light in harsh sun. The adapter is a specialist accessory, rather than a speedlight to buy for its own sake; its appeal depends on using one of the named Olympus flash models. For portrait work indoors, it can be part of a reflector-based lighting arrangement. At an event or outdoors, it suits photographers who want to work with a speedlight and reflector rather than rely on the flash alone. If one of those four flashes is already part of your kit, the FLRA-1 is the accessory to consider for those situations.

Specialist Note

For an indoor portrait with an FL-50R, I’d consider adding the FLRA-1 when I want a reflector in the lighting setup. Its job is specific: it’s an adapter for the listed speedlights, not a general-purpose extra for every flash. The compatibility includes the FL-50R and FL-36R as well as the FL-50 and FL-36, so it suits owners of those models who photograph indoor portraits or cover events. It also fits the stated use of fill light in harsh sun. My honest advice is to buy it for that reflector role; if you don’t use one of the four named flashes, this isn’t the accessory to choose.
