SMDV Honey Comb Grid 165mm 30DEG For RSTN165

SMDV Honey Comb Grid 165mm 30DEG For RSTN165 | Keep light more contained

Without a grid, light from a modifier can spread beyond the area you want to illuminate. This SMDV honeycomb grid is made for the RSTN165 and has a 30-degree rating, giving you a way to keep the light more directed in a setup. It’s suited to photographers who want more control over spill, such as when lighting a subject against a background they’d rather leave darker. The 165 mm size is part of the product’s name; the fit designation is RSTN165. In practice, a grid changes how you place and aim your light, rather than doing the work for you. That’s the honest trade-off: it can help contain the beam, but you’ll still need to position the light for the result you want.

A honeycomb grid is a straightforward tool for shaping light. It can be useful when a broad spread would brighten nearby areas, or when you want the light to fall more selectively on a subject. The 30-degree designation gives you a specific grid angle to work with; it isn’t a promise that every scene will look the same, since distance, angle and the surrounding setup all matter. If you’re building a controlled lighting arrangement around the RSTN165, this is the grid named for that model. Keep the light’s direction in mind as you work: a tighter area of illumination can make small placement changes more noticeable. That’s often helpful, but it does mean you may need a little adjustment to find the coverage you have in mind.
