Caruba Reverse Ring AI-67mm
Caruba Reverse Ring AI-67mm | Turn a lens around for close-ups
Turn a lens around to make close-up photographs of small subjects, with the lens mounted in reverse rather than in its normal direction. The Caruba Reverse Ring AI-67mm is a reverse ring with an AI fitting and a 67 mm lens connection. It gives photographers a way to explore close-up detail with a compatible lens they already own, especially when the picture is all about a fine surface or a small part of a larger subject. This is a specialist accessory, not a standard way to mount a lens: its purpose is close-up work. Match the ring’s AI side to the camera connection, and use a lens with a 67 mm filter thread on its front. For a first attempt, choose a stationary subject in bright, even light. Frame a small area, then move the camera gently until the detail comes into focus. The reversed view can make familiar objects feel more graphic and intimate, and it’s a straightforward way to experiment with close-up pictures without adding another lens to your kit.
Specialist Note
This ring lets you mount a 67 mm lens in reverse for close-ups, rather than trying to hold the lens backwards by hand. The AI fitting is the camera-side connection, so it needs to match your camera; the 67 mm measurement is for the lens’s front filter thread. I’d suggest starting with a coin or a leaf on a steady surface: frame the detail, then move the camera slowly until it snaps into focus. That hands-on approach suits curious photographers who want to explore small textures with a lens they own. One limitation is that this is a dedicated close-up setup, not a convenient arrangement for switching between close and distant subjects.
