Asus VA249QGS 23.8-inch IPS WLED FHD | A clear, practical screen for everyday desk work

A laptop screen can leave you juggling windows in a cramped space; a separate monitor gives your work its own room. The Asus VA249QGS is an LCD/TFT monitor for a straightforward desktop setup, suited to office tasks, browsing, online study and watching video. Its 23.8-inch screen gives you space to keep a document open beside a reference page, or to review photographs while making notes. This is an everyday-use display rather than a specialist screen aimed at detailed image finishing. If you want a larger working area for routine tasks, it’s a practical format to consider. For close inspection of fine image detail, though, resolution matters, so it’s worth thinking about how much detail your work requires before choosing a screen.

Specialist Note

Full HD has limits for close inspection of tiny image details, but it makes sense for an uncomplicated desk screen. The IPS panel is a helpful choice if you shift to the side while reading or sharing a picture; you’re not as tied to sitting directly in front of it. WLED is the stated backlighting type, part of how the display is illuminated. I’d recommend this Asus for writing, browsing and reviewing a batch of photos at fit-to-screen size, rather than colour-critical retouching. Keep a photo open beside your notes, or place a document next to a browser window. Its 23.8-inch size gives those everyday tasks a defined space without turning the setup into a large-screen workstation.
