Sirui Aurora Series 85mm f/1.4 FullFrame Autofocus Lens (Nikon Z-Mount) | Portraits with natural perspective and subject separation

Portraits have a pleasing sense of space around the subject, while the background falls away without taking over the frame. The Sirui Aurora Series 85mm f/1.4 is a short telephoto prime lens for Nikon Z full-frame cameras, suited to portrait photographers and people covering events. Its 85mm focal length gives you room to frame a head-and-shoulders portrait without crowding your subject, and it’s also useful for picking out moments across a room. The full-frame format makes it a natural fit for photographers working with full-frame Nikon Z bodies. For events, the focal length helps keep a little distance between you and the action; for portraits, it gives you space to guide expressions and pose. It’s a focused tool for those two kinds of work, rather than a general-purpose lens for every situation.

Specialist Note

29° is a fairly tight view, so indoors you’ll want to leave yourself space to frame a person comfortably. I’d use that controlled framing for an event portrait, then let the f/1.4 maximum aperture separate your subject from a busy background; it also gives you more room to work when the light is low. Autofocus is handy when expressions change quickly, especially at a gathering where people won’t wait for you to set focus manually. This lens suits Nikon Z photographers who often make portraits or event pictures. One trade-off: 85mm can feel restrictive in a small room, so it pairs best with a wider lens in your bag.
