Meyer Optik Görlitz Primoplan 75mm f/1.9 II Pentax K-Mount
Meyer Optik Görlitz Primoplan 75mm f/1.9 II Pentax K-Mount | Portrait reach with a bright f/1.9 aperture
Portraits and event photographs can lose their impact when a busy background competes with your subject. The Meyer Optik Görlitz Primoplan 75mm f/1.9 II is a manual-focus prime for Pentax K cameras, combining a short-telephoto perspective with a wide maximum aperture. It’s especially suited to portraits, where you can draw attention to a face, and events where available light changes quickly. The 75mm focal length lets you frame a subject without crowding them; open the aperture to f/1.9 when the light is low or you want a softer background. Manual focus rewards a measured approach, so this lens makes more sense for portraits and moments you can anticipate than for unpredictable, fast-moving action. If you enjoy setting focus yourself and want a dedicated portrait-and-event focal length, this Primoplan gives you a clear, deliberate way to work.
Specialist Note
On a Pentax APS-C body, I’d use the 75mm view—about 112.5mm equivalent—for a head-and-shoulders portrait, leaving enough room to frame your subject comfortably. At f/1.9, the wide aperture can help you keep shutter speeds up as event light drops, but focus needs care because depth of field is shallow. Manual focusing suits someone who can pause on a portrait or anticipate a speaker’s movement; it’s less forgiving when people move unpredictably. I’d choose this lens for posed portraits and speeches, setting focus before the key moment rather than chasing action. That more deliberate rhythm is part of its appeal.
