Meyer Optik Görlitz Trioplan 100mm f/2.8 II Pentax K-Mount
Meyer Optik Görlitz Trioplan 100mm f/2.8 II Pentax K-Mount | Manual-focus portraits with room to compose
What sets this lens apart is a 100mm short-telephoto view paired with a maximum aperture of f/2.8 and manual focus. It’s an interchangeable prime for Pentax K-mount cameras, suited to photographers who want to set focus themselves rather than rely on autofocus. Portraits are its natural subject: the longer focal length gives you room to work at a comfortable distance and frame a face without crowding it. It’s also suited to events, particularly moments where you can take time to place focus. On a Pentax APS-C body, the angle of view is comparable to a 150mm lens on full frame, so allow extra working distance when composing. This is a considered, hands-on lens for portrait photographers and event shooters who prefer deliberate focus and don’t mind working at a measured pace.
Specialist Note
First-time owners sometimes expect a portrait lens to find the eye for them; with this Trioplan, focusing is your job, which means you can choose exactly where attention falls. At f/2.8, you can open the aperture for a portrait in softer light, but focus becomes more critical—take a moment to check the nearest eye. For a posed portrait, step back and refine your framing; at an event, I’d favour a quieter moment over fast-moving action. The 100mm focal length gives you a useful working distance, though manual focus can make spontaneous, quick sequences harder. It suits someone who enjoys taking time over a frame.
