7Artisans 46mm True Colour CPL Filter
7Artisans 46mm True Colour CPL Filter | Control reflections in bright scenes
To cut distracting reflections from water, glass or glossy surfaces, a polarising filter can make the view feel clearer and more defined. The 7Artisans 46mm True Colour CPL Filter is a circular polariser for photographers who want more control over reflected light in their pictures. It can also deepen the appearance of skies and bring out colour in foliage, depending on the light and the angle of the filter. That makes it useful for landscapes, travel scenes and everyday pictures through windows, where glare can obscure detail. The “True Colour” name points to colour as part of its appeal, but the visible effect of any polariser depends on the scene and how it’s positioned. This is a focused tool rather than a general protective filter: its main job is to change reflections and the look of light, not to cover every filter need.
Specialist Note
A CPL handles reflections in a way a lens hood can’t: it changes how reflected light reaches the camera. I’d consider this one for a lake, shop window or leafy scene where glare is taking attention away from the subject. Turn the filter while looking through the viewfinder or at the screen, and stop when the reflection or sky looks right; the effect varies with the angle of the light. The 46mm size matters when choosing a filter for a lens, so match that diameter to the lens’s filter thread. The True Colour wording is appealing, but I’d judge the result in the particular light you’re photographing. A polariser also changes the amount of light reaching the camera, so it’s less helpful when you need every bit of light.
