Aten USB 3.0 Extension Cable USB A Male - USB A Female Round 10m

Aten USB 3.0 Extension Cable USB A Male - USB A Female Round 10m | Give a USB-A connection more reach

Without an extension, the cable has to reach from the USB-A connection to the place you need it. This Aten cable gives that connection a longer route: it’s a USB 3.0 extension cable with a USB-A male plug at one end and a USB-A female socket at the other. At 10 metres, it suits setups where the two connection points are a long way apart, rather than a small adjustment behind a desk. The cable is round, as stated in the product name. It’s a straightforward option when you need to extend a USB-A connection and want the length to be clear before you plan the setup. One practical point: a 10-metre run needs a little thought about where the cable will go, especially if it crosses a walkway or has to follow a particular route.

Planning the cable run

Think through the path between the two USB-A connection points before laying out the cable. A longer route can be handy when the equipment and the connection you’re extending aren’t close together, but the cable still needs a clear path. Measure the route you have in mind, including any turns, rather than relying only on the straight-line distance between the endpoints. That gives you a better sense of whether the stated length suits your layout. The male plug and female socket describe the direction of the extension: the plug goes into a USB-A socket, and the socket provides a place for a USB-A plug at the far end. This is a cable for extending a USB-A connection; it isn’t a different connector type or a cable with a new socket format. Keep the plan simple and you’ll know where the extra length is useful before you start connecting equipment.
