B+W Black Mist 1/4 MRC Nano V-PRO 82mm
B+W Black Mist 1/4 MRC Nano V-PRO 82mm | Gentle highlight bloom, softer contrast
Soften bright highlights and give a scene a gentler, more atmospheric look with the B+W Black Mist 1/4 MRC Nano V-PRO 82mm. Its 1/4 strength is suited to photographers and filmmakers who want a visible mist effect without making it the whole story. Lights and other bright areas can take on a soft glow, while the image keeps a more natural feel than a strongly diffused look. That makes it a considered option for portraits, evening scenes and carefully styled video, especially when crisp digital rendering feels a little too clinical. The 82mm size is the filter diameter, so it’s intended for a lens with a matching 82mm filter thread. The Black Mist effect is most apparent where bright highlights sit against darker surroundings; in flatter light, it’ll be more subtle. This is a creative look filter, chosen for the character it adds to the image.
Specialist Note
Hard, sharp highlights can make a portrait or night scene feel more clinical than you intended; this filter is for softening that impression in-camera. The 1/4 strength gives you a restrained mist effect, so it’s a sensible starting point if you want glow around practical lights without letting diffusion dominate every frame. For a portrait, try placing a bright light in the background; for video, use it on a scene with small light sources and judge the result on your monitor. The 82mm diameter means you’ll need a lens with an 82mm filter thread. One limitation: scenes without bright highlights may show much less of the effect.
