Caruba Deep Parabolic Softbox 120cm

Caruba Deep Parabolic Softbox 120cm: Shape soft, even portrait light

The deep, 80cm parabolic profile is the defining choice of the Caruba Deep Parabolic Softbox 120cm: its shape creates soft, even light with a gradual transition into shadow. At 120cm across, it provides a broad light source for portrait work, where gentle light across a face matters more than a hard-edged look. Two included diffusers let you soften the output further, so you can choose a more subdued effect for headshots or a gentle, even look for portraits with more of the subject in frame. The supplied speedring fits Bowens flash units, making the softbox a clear option for a Bowens-based studio flash setup. Its deep form and large diameter are the main points to weigh against the space it will occupy; this isn't a compact modifier. Caruba describes the construction as durable, and the softbox comes with a carry bag for storage and transport.

What it does

• 120cm diameter: The broad face spreads the light across a portrait subject, rather than concentrating it in a small area. That makes it useful for head-and-shoulders portraits as well as frames that include more of the person.
• 80cm parabolic depth: Its deep profile is the defining shape of this softbox. The resulting light is described as soft and even, with a gradual transition into shadow for less abrupt-looking facial shading.
• Two diffusers: Both diffusers are supplied, adding options for softening the light. Use them when you want a more subdued portrait look or a smooth, even result across the subject.
• Bowens speedring: The included speedring is for Bowens flash units. It gives the softbox its stated connection to that flash system, so you can use it with a compatible Bowens studio flash.
• Made for portrait work: The combination of a 120cm face and soft output is specifically suited to portrait photography. The gentle shadow transition is useful when you want facial features to retain shape without a stark lighting edge.
• Durable construction: Caruba describes the softbox as durable and reliable. A carry bag is included for keeping the softbox together when stored or transported.
