Caruba UV + CPL + ND8 Kit 46mm

Caruba UV + CPL + ND8 Kit 46mm - three filters for 46mm lenses

Caruba UV + CPL + ND8 Kit 46mm is a set of three filters for lenses with a 46mm filter thread. It’s aimed at outdoor photographers and video makers who encounter changing light and reflections, and want separate filter effects for different scenes. The set covers three familiar situations: daytime ultraviolet light, reflective surfaces and strong sunlight. Use the UV filter for daytime photographs, the CPL for outdoor scenes with glass or water, and the ND8 when bright conditions call for less light reaching the camera. That range is useful for landscapes, views through windows and moving water. The filters come in a pouch for carrying and storage, with space for four filters, so there’s room for the supplied trio. Each filter also has a multilayer protective coating intended to guard its surface and make cleaning easier. It’s a straightforward kit for a 46mm lens when one filter alone won’t cover the conditions you’re shooting in.

In the field

• 46mm filter size: The filters are made for a lens with a 46mm filter thread. Match that measurement to the lens before choosing this set.
• UV filter: Ultraviolet sunlight can add a bluish cast to daytime photographs. The filter addresses that effect and covers the lens’s front element as a replaceable protective layer.
• Circular polariser: The CPL reduces reflections from surfaces such as windows and water. It also increases contrast and colour saturation, including the separation between blue sky and white clouds.
• ND8 filter: This neutral-density filter reduces the light entering the camera. In strong sun, that’s useful when you want to use a wider aperture or a longer shutter speed.
• Coating and pouch: A multilayer coating protects the filter surfaces and is intended to make them easier to clean. The supplied pouch holds up to four filters, keeping the three supplied filters together for carrying.
